Where the wiring never reached
A lit side gate, with no cable to run to it
The panel charges through the day and the light works on its own after dark. Two screws hold it to any wall that catches sun, which puts usable light on a gate, a shed door or the far end of a path without a cable and without a trench.
01
Solar charged
A monocrystalline panel rated 5.5V 1W tops up a built in 3.7V lithium battery. About six hours of sun gives more than eight hours of light.
02
Motion sensing
A PIR sensor watches 120 degrees in front of the fixture and lifts the output the moment someone walks into it.
03
Three modes
Full output on motion then off, full output on motion then back to a low glow, or a low glow held through the night.
04
Built for weather
A PC and ABS housing rated IP65, so rain and dust are not a concern on an exposed wall.
After dark
Light that stays out of the way until it is needed
Left in the second mode the fixture holds a low glow all evening and lifts to full output when someone steps into the sensor field. Light across the terrace and down the steps, then back to a quiet level once the space is empty. One hundred LEDs across four sides spread the light rather than pointing it all in one direction.
Questions
How does it get its power?
From the sun. A monocrystalline panel on the top of the housing charges a lithium battery built into the fixture, and two screws are the whole of the installation. The only thing that matters when siting a solar motion sensor light is that the panel sees direct sun for a good part of the day, which is usually a south facing wall, a gate post or a shed end.
How long does it run at night?
More than eight hours from a full charge, and a full charge takes around six hours in direct sun. In practice that covers a whole winter evening comfortably, and the low glow modes stretch it further still.
How wide is the motion sensing?
The PIR sensor covers 120 degrees in front of the fixture, which is enough to catch someone approaching a gate or coming up a path rather than only someone standing directly beneath it.
Will it handle rain?
The housing is PC and ABS rated IP65, which covers dust and water jetted from any direction. It is built to live outdoors year round on an exposed wall.
Can the brightness be adjusted?
There is no dimmer as such. Brightness is decided by which of the three modes it is left in: full output on motion then off, full output on motion then back down to a low glow, or a steady low glow held through the night.
How many lights are in the pack?
Four identical fixtures. That is usually the right number for a property: one on the side gate, one on the shed, one over the back step and one spare wall that turns out to need it. Each light works entirely on its own, so they can be spread across four different walls.
When will it arrive?
Orders are processed within 1 to 7 business days, then delivery to the United States typically takes 8 to 30 business days from dispatch. Shipping is free on every order.
